The Birth Partner 4th Edition by Penny Simkin
A very comprehensive guide for birth partners on how to physically and emotionally support pregnant and laboring women throughout the pregnancy and labor stages. Treat this book as a textbook, you can skip around and focus on what you need to know.
The most recent edition is the 5th one, but they used gender inclusive language, which I personally dislike.

The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by the founders of La Leche League
An excellent book about all things breastfeeding. This book is, hands down, a must have if you’re planning to breastfeed your newborn – especially if you’re a first time mom.

Nurturing New Families by Naomi Kemeny
A very comprehensive guide for mothers, family members, friends, and postpartum doulas on how to best support the new mom and her family during postpartum. In my opinion, this book is far more detailed than any postpartum planning courses available.
